    February’s Flicks: ‘Doc Shorts’ Doubleheader

This DMN we are featuring two great short documentaries,
The White Helmets and The Drop Box.

    THE WHITE HELMETS

Released in 2016, The White Helmets spotlights a group of volunteers providing humanitarian relief in the Syrian Civil War. From carrying out medical evacuations and providing essential services, to doing search and rescue operations subsequent to bombings, these heroic helpers risk their lives to save innocent civilians. The White Helmets won the Oscar for Best Short Documentary.

    THE DROP BOX

Having debuted in 2015, The Drop Box highlights Pastor Lee Jong Rak as he rescues unwanted babies in South Korea. Some teenage mothers and parents of handicapped children view his “drop box” as their last resort. “Sacrifice, hope, guilt, courage, and unconditional love are themes that resound through the documentary.” Don’t miss this jewel of a film!

Free, and all (19+) welcome. Come join the discussion!

    Date: Thursday, February 28th
    Time: 7pm
Place: St. David’s Presbyterian Church, 271 Snowsell Street, Kelowna
(This month, the DMN will be held in the auditorium located on the main floor.)
